¡Chicanísima! opera premiere in San Francisco:
Celebrating Olga Talamante’s legacy
This tribute chronicles the life and work of legendary Chicanx leader and LGBTQ+ activist Olga Talamante—from her childhood, she started working in the Gilroy Garlic fields through decades of international activism and political imprisonment in Argentina.
In this inspiring story, Olga “frees herself from the psychological hold of her captors and releases her heart from 40 years of suppressing (her) memories of (the) violence perpetrated against her…finally (finding) peace, healing…, and the love of her life.” Learn more about Olga and the production.
